Indian Premier League(IPL) 2024 Formats

The previous year’s IPL format has been retained for IPL 2024, with changes to the venues. A random draw will divide ten teams into two groups of five each. Each team will play 14 matches in the group stage, twice against their group opponents and once against the other group teams. Teams will earn 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw or no result, and no points for a loss. The playoffs will comprise four matches, including Qualifier 1 between the top two teams, Eliminator between the third and fourth-placed teams, Qualifier 2 between the losing team of Qualifier 1 and the winner of Eliminator, and the Final between the winners of Qualifiers 1 and 2.

If a team cannot field their playing XI due to COVID-19, the BCCI will attempt to reschedule the match.
In case of a tie in Super Overs during Playoffs/Final, the team with a higher league position will be declared the winner.
Teams will face over-rate penalties for every over not completed in the allocated time.
Unfair movement by the wicketkeeper or a fielder will result in a dead ball and 5 penalty runs.
